Although car batteries are designed for repeated use, they sometimes lose their energy-supplying properties, which becomes especially noticeable with the arrival of cold weather. And then some astute motorists, without waiting for the final depletion of the battery, prefer to replace it, while not wanting either to overpay for extra capacity, or to face troubles associated with a suddenly dead battery.

"Sixty ampere" is just right for such requirements, and many buyers of batteries prefer it. Which manufacturers of such devices are trustworthy - further in the review.

Delkor 60L +

A premium battery typically found in luxury passenger cars. With an official life of five years, it comes with a four-year warranty. However, this battery can work overtime for six to seven years.

But for all its premium and durability, the battery has a very modest cost. During the period of service, the unit pays for itself enough, so that its acquisition will be a fully justified step.

Battery plates with both positive and negative polarity contain not only a calcium-lead alloy, but also quite a bit of silver. With this approach, the electrolyte is consumed insignificantly, so that during the operation of the battery this substance does not have to be added.

The battery case is vibration-resistant and not prone to leaks. The flat shape of its bottom reliably protects the conductive plates from deformation during driving. Well, the lid is hermetically attached to the body itself. Finally, the metal parts of the battery are not prone to rusting.

Benefits:

  • reliability;
  • safety in use;
  • no need for maintenance.

The only drawback found with this battery is that it is difficult to find on sale.

Delta GX 12-60

This battery is based on lead cells washed with sulfuric acid, condensed to a helium consistency. This design allows the GEL battery to resist significant discharges and maintain a stable temperature. The body of the device is made of flame retardant ABS plastic.

The internal resistance of the battery and its self-discharge are insignificant, it is suitable for both cyclic and buffer modes, and lasts an average of 10-12 years. The device is not too bulky, so it is perfect for a large number of passenger cars. In addition to vehicles, this battery can be used in communication systems, autonomous power supply and others.

Benefits:

  • the battery is not prone to acid leaks, therefore it can be safely used together with other electronics;
  • is not a source of harmful gases, natural ventilation is enough for the battery;
  • control of the water level is not required.

Disadvantages:

  • high price;
  • not always clear designations on the case, which can lead to the acquisition of a stale battery, which will last less than a new one.

Beast 60L

This battery from a Russian brand has excellent current properties and is perfect for harsh weather conditions. The battery electrodes are very mechanically stable, which leads to a long service life of the product.

The battery is made according to the Calcium Plus (Ca / Sb) method, which has been used for similar products not so long ago. Thanks to him, the battery consumes little electrolyte and is able to continue working after a deep discharge.

Conductive plates made according to the indicated technology, related to the positive terminal of the battery, in addition to lead, also contain antimony, which prevents significant discharges. In plates with a minus sign, lead is adjacent to calcium. Well, the possibility that the battery suddenly runs out is almost impossible.

Benefits:

  • improved geometry electrodes;
  • the battery cover is completely sealed;
  • the body is made of polypropylene, resistant to severe temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress.

Disadvantages:

  • heavy weight;
  • due to its large size, it is not suitable for every car.

Mutlu SFB 3

In terms of its characteristics, the updated "sixties" from Mutlu is not very different from the old maintenance-free batteries of the Calcium Silver variety. In particular, the same 540 A of the starting discharge remained. But in general, the Super Flooded Battery line did not imply radical changes - it was just that some elements were modernized in it: the grilles became more powerful, the ventilation valves were improved. And the plates, as before, are made using calcium and silver.

By creating this battery, the engineers sought primarily to increase the number of charge-discharge cycles without harming its other operational properties. This feature would come in handy for frequent short-distance travel. However, officially the battery is not intended for cars equipped with a decent start-stop device that loads it.

The new method of making the plates led to some savings on lead, due to which the battery became 300 g lighter than Calcium Silver 60. And this without any damage to the characteristics of the battery! As usual, the Turkish company does not hunt for sensations, but simply offers motorists a high-quality battery at an adequate price.

Benefits:

  • high starting current;
  • cold resistance;
  • stable quality for its price segment.

And yet, severe frosts, when 30 degrees below zero, this battery dislikes.

Varta D59 Blue Dynamic

The batteries of this model sometimes demonstrate miracles of vitality. For example, a battery that has stood for three years without work, after a couple of recharges, can continue to perform its functions, although under these circumstances the plates of such a battery should have crumbled long ago.

It looks like the much-vaunted PowerFrame grille, which the manufacturer claims prevents the very plates from shattering, is really doing the trick. Therefore, if you do not take into account some details, such as the fact that there is no hydrometer viewing window on the battery cover, the Varta D59 can be considered an excellent option.

Advantages:

  • high cold start currents and reserve capacity;
  • significant resource, even when working in difficult conditions.

The disadvantages of this battery include rather high price tags for it.

Tyumen Premium 6CT-60

The products of the Tyumen Battery Plant can also compete with foreign batteries. Moreover, the difference in the cost of Russian and imported batteries plays into her hands. Actually, Tyumen Premium 6CT-60 is modest for the word "Premium" in its name, but it is not deprived of lead.

And although this battery is inferior to the same Varta in terms of starting current and reserve capacity, 510 amperes of "Tyumenets" will be enough for most engines even in winter. And 98 "reserved" minutes should not disappoint motorists. The difference in the operation of these batteries can be noticeable unless they are seriously worn out, but here differences in manufacturing technologies are already affecting.

Advantages of Tyumen Premium 6CT-60 batteries:

  • easy access to banks - their plugs are located right at hand;
  • loyal value;
  • traditionally Tyumen batteries are famous for their frost resistance.

Their same disadvantages:

  • do not always demonstrate stable operation - sometimes batteries, while still under warranty, significantly lose their functionality;
  • plugs are not just for beauty - the battery needs service.

Topla Energy 60

A fairly well-known calcium battery with an acceptable price and, according to reviews, a good resource. A start at 600 amperes is quite a solid indicator for a "sixties" not from the AGM category, but at the same time, the tendency of a battery with a high starting current to quickly lose energy after several successive attempts to start the car cannot be ignored.

The new and well-charged Topla Energy battery is indeed capable of generating the amperage indicated on its sticker under the conditions stipulated by the EN standard. For owners of cars with voluminous engines, and even diesel, this battery can be a good choice.

Benefits:

  • decent performance in the cold;
  • significant reserve capacity, which may be of interest to owners of cars with a preheater.

The battery is capable of confidently overclocking the starter in cold conditions - it cannot be taken away from it. But the driver will not have many attempts to start the car. For a few such actions that did not lead to the desired result, Topla can get seriously hooked, and then it will be even more difficult to get the car in motion.

TAB Polar S S60

Thanks to the word "Polar" in the name, such a battery can be of interest to motorists from cold regions. And this is despite the fact that the Slovenian battery does not look very solid for its price - take at least its flimsy handle. But for the "sixties" it is not so heavy - only 13.9 kg.

In terms of its starting properties, the battery is more related to sprinters than marathon runners, and with numerous attempts to start the engine running in a row, it loses a lot of energy. Although the battery is "polar", as practice shows, in the cold it works like the same Mutlu SFB 3. And it is estimated at a thousand rubles more!

Benefits:

  • high starting current;
  • great resource.

Still, given the price of the battery, you could expect more from it.

BOSCH S4 005 Silver

Everything that this German battery needs is in his hands (or pen): a prestigious brand, a high starting current of 540 A with a capacity of 60 Ah, and a price comparable to the cost of the same Varta.

However, the battery is unlikely to really surprise car owners. After all, the reserve capacity of a well-charged BOSCH S4 is the same as that of Tyumen, which is much cheaper. And in the cold, after the very first attempt to start the starter, by the way, very effective, the "German" sits down quite hard.

In total, among the main advantages of these batteries, one can note the high amperage at the first attempt to start the engine.

Disadvantages of BOSCH S4 005 Silver:

  • it is difficult to get out of deep discharge;
  • for the northern regions of Russia - not the most interesting option for such a price.

Tudor AGM

The ability to give a starter 680 amperes is a valuable property for a "sixties". And for engineers looking to combine the large engine of a modern car with a compact battery compartment, this battery from Exide Technologies may be a godsend.

According to the sticker, the battery is designed for cars equipped with a start-stop device. The ability of the battery to deliver a high discharge and quickly recover energy is especially valuable for vehicles with frequent shutdown and starting of the engine when driving in the city.

But this battery is quite capricious, and it is difficult to identify its advantages when placed on an ordinary city car with a traditional 1.5-1.6 liter engine. Moreover, having begun to actively generate a high current, the battery will quickly waste its energy.

Benefits:

  • ability to deliver high current for a short time;
  • does not take long to charge.

Disadvantages:

  • high energy consumption during work;
  • high price.

Conclusion

For car enthusiasts who do not want to spend a lot of money on a battery, "Tyumen" can be a good option, especially in regions with a cold climate. Well, for cars rich in electronics, extra amperes of current and minutes of reserve capacity will be very useful. This is where Varta or Tudor batteries come in handy. And the flashy numbers on the sticker do not necessarily mean the high quality of the battery.
