In the period from November 30 to December 9, 2018, another automobile exhibition is taking place in Los Angeles, where Toyota will demonstrate the "pumped-over" business-class sedan - Toyota Camry TRD.
As the manufacturer notes, the car was fine-tuned by its own finishing studio, Toyota Racing Development, whose main activity is related to the comprehensive revision of the company's serial models.
In comparison with the standard version of the Toyota Camry, the TRD version received a number of external improvements, as well as a reconfigured chassis, which made it possible to make the car's behavior on the track more driver-like.
At the same time, the manufacturer did not make changes to the power plant, which is a 3.5-liter gasoline V6. It is also worth noting that until recently the TRD version was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, and from the beginning of next year the car has every chance to get to the Russian market.
The exterior of the Toyota Camry TRD
The civilian version of Toyota Camry has an attractive, moderately dynamic and noble appearance, and with the release of the TRD version, a drop of aggression was added to this “cocktail”.
So, the novelty received a more powerful front bumper, represented by a redesigned air intake and a neat splitter, designed to improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the car. A neat false radiator grille and stylish head optics with LED filling remained in place.

But the height of the ground clearance (see table) was reduced by 15 mm (up to 145 mm), which was caused by the need to reduce the level of aerodynamic drag and lower the center of gravity in order to improve the handling and behavior of the car at high speeds.
It is expected that along with the original exterior design, the novelty will receive exclusive body colors, which will make it possible to instantly identify the car even in heavy city traffic.
The interior of the "charged" sedan Camry TRD
The interior of the "pumped-over" Toyota Camry TRD has practically not undergone any changes, which means that its inhabitants will be able to count on the presence of first-class assembly, high-quality finishing materials and close to the reference ergonomics.
The driver's "cockpit" is represented by a well-read instrument panel, complemented by a large LCD display of the trip computer and a stylish three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with leather braiding and bright red stitching.
The complex central dashboard demonstrates the 8-inch "TV" of the Toyota Entune 3.0 entertainment and information system, right under which a stylish, but at the same time laconic air conditioning control unit lives.
The front passenger side dashboard sports leather trim and eye-catching brushed aluminum trim. There are also metal pedal pads and special floor mats with red piping.
First row riders the manufacturer has prepared comfortable sports chairs with high-quality leather upholstery, pronounced lateral support and a large number of adjustments that allow people of different heights and builds to sit comfortably.
Between the seats of the front riders is an impressive armrest with a built-in box for small things, and right in front of it is a platform with a gearbox located on it, a pair of mechanical buttons (including a parking brake button) and a pair of cup holders.
Rear sofa allows you to accommodate 3 adult passengers. True, a massive transmission tunnel will deliver a little discomfort to the central rider.
Among the amenities available to the passengers of the rear sofa, it is possible to note a folding center armrest, into which a touch panel can be built for an additional charge, which is responsible for controlling the climate, heated seats and an audio system.
Trunk volume the standard is 493 liters, while it is not yet known whether it will be possible to increase it by folding the backs of the rear sofa. In the underground luggage compartment, the manufacturer has provided space for a full-size spare wheel and a small set of tools.

Under the hood of the Toyota Camry TRD is a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that generates a peak torque of 362 Nm and a maximum 350 hp available at 4700 and 6600 rpm, according to official sources.
A pair of this engine is a high-speed 8-band "automatic" with the possibility of manual gear shifting by means of paddle shifters. All this allows you to count on a top speed of over 220 km / h, as well as acceleration from up to 100 km / h in less than 7.5 seconds.
Special attention should be paid to the combined fuel consumption, which does not exceed the mark of 9 liters for every 100 km of the distance traveled, which is one of the best indicators for engines of comparable volume and power.
The TRD version is based on a platform similar to the “civilian” version of the model, while specialists from Toyota Racing Development installed other shock absorbers, new springs and enlarged lateral stabilizers, the stiffness of which on the front and rear axles increased by 44 and 67%, respectively.
The manufacturer proudly declares that the chassis calibration was carried out on special race tracks. Although it would seem, where is the track, and where is the executive sedan of business class.
As with the base Toyota Camry, "Pumped-over" TRD-modification is completed exclusively with front-wheel driveas well as an electric power steering with variable settings.
The braking system has become more efficient, which was achieved thanks to the installation of frontal "discs" with a diameter increased to 328 mm, and two-piston mechanisms instead of standard single-piston ones.

The upgraded Toyota Camry TRD will be unveiled as a 2020 model year, with official sales in the North American market scheduled for fall 2019. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no information on the price of the new item.
