Maybe someone didn't see the BMW 335i before the restyling (now the BMW 340i), so let's look at the car in its entirety, rather than look at individual updates. So, we have before us the traditional twin headlights, huge "nostrils", however, unlike past generations, there is no longer xenon. In the database, the buyer receives halogen headlights, and LED headlights for a surcharge.
The hood has also noticeably changed, which is no longer "humped", as it was during almost 10 years. Now, about the new one. The bumper has changed a lot. It now has one flat long duct, and not several sections, as it was before. By the way, it is not painted in the color of the bumper in any configuration. Fog lights, like head optics, are either halogen or LEDs.
The profile, as already mentioned, remains the same. There are massive, but, at the same time, neat wheel arches, a swift strip cutting through the rear fender and doors at the level of the handles. Already from the side, you can see the new taillights, which are now LED-based in any configuration.
BMW 3-Series F30 restyling has undergone some changes at the stern. As already mentioned, the lights, the geometry of the rear splitter has changed slightly, in the M version the exhaust pipes are doubled. In general, we have before us the same stylish, powerful, fast-paced, but elegant and refined BMW. For example, the multimedia display of the BMW 340i did not become touch-sensitive, although it would be worth it, it would be a serious plus. But, apparently, not destiny, however, LTE support was added here.
The seats received a different shape, as well as different settings, which were enough before. The multifunction buttons remain identical, but the iDrive control “washer” has become larger in diameter. Perhaps this is where it ends.

Despite the fact that the indexes of the model become more and more with each new generation, this does not in any way affect the volume of the engines. The most voluminous of them is the 3-liter "six". But, we will talk about the BMW 340i 2015 engines a little later. Now let's talk about such little-known "truths" as, for example, the car platform. It is built on the same as the new BMW X1 2015, as well as the Active Tourer. This platform is very flexible and allows you to implement the most ambitious projects on it. For example, here in the base is rear-wheel drive, while the aforementioned small crossover has front-wheel drive.
If the 2015 3-Series is equipped with the M-package, then the suspension will automatically be "lowered" by 10 mm, in which case the ground clearance will be 130 mm for rear-wheel drive versions. If the buyer chooses xDrive, he will receive 145 mm of ground clearance. Of course, there are fewer revolutionary solutions for the brand than in the BMW X1, after all, rear-wheel drive remains the main one. Even the all-wheel drive version can receive no more than 50% of the traction on the front axle. Of course, this is a road sedan, not a crossover.
Petrol engines
As expected, the base equipment of the new generation BMW 3-Series is equipped with a 3-cylinder, for the first time in the history of the model, an engine that produces 136 horsepower from 1.5 liters. The torque of such a motor is about 220 Nm. Thus, the engineers of the German company managed to achieve excellent results and reduce fuel consumption to 5.5 liters on the highway and to 7 liters of AI-95 in the city. At the same time, acceleration to the first hundred will take 8.9 seconds, and the maximum will stop at 210 km / h. Not bad for a liter and a half. Such a unit can be equipped with both a mechanical and an automatic transmission. The mechanics are 6-speed, and the automatic has 8 ranges.
Next in the lineup is the 2-liter N48 petrol engine. It managed to squeeze out 184 horses with a torque of 290 Nm. This allows you to change the first hundred in 7.2 seconds, and the needle stops at 235 km / h. In order to feed this herd of German horses, you will have to fill in at least 6 liters on the highway and 8 liters in the city. Any box of your choice is installed here too. In addition, all-wheel drive and the M-package are already becoming available here. In this case, the assembly will be local, that is, the car will be assembled in Kaliningrad. Is this good or bad? Avtotor from 2010 to 2013 was recognized as the best assembly plant outside Germany.
Another petrol representative has the same volume of 2 liters, but on the nameplate there is already an index 330i. Such a motor develops 249 horsepower, which accelerates a new three-ruble note to a hundred in 5.8 seconds. The maximum speed here is limited to 250 kilometers per hour. Torque of 350 Nm is available in full at 1450 rpm and up to 4800. The fuel consumption of such a BMW 3-Series 2015 is 7.8 liters in the city or 6.2 on the highway. The buyer can get such an engine only in conjunction with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, which is logical.
The top engine is a 326-horsepower V6, which replaces the old 306-horsepower. Such a complete set makes a weaving in 5.2 seconds on the mechanics and in 5.1 seconds on the machine. The ZF company, which supplies transmissions for the VW Group and BMW, has reached a level of technology where the automatic “thinks” faster than the driver. So, such an engine produces 450 Nm, they can be obtained already at 1300 rpm. The upper torque threshold begins to decrease by 5000 rpm. Thus, the 2015 BMW 340i is capable of shooting forward at any speed and engine revs. The top speed is of course electronically limited to 250 km / h.
Diesel engines BMW 3 2015
The weakest diesel engine remained a 2-liter turbo four, developing 163 horsepower. She inherited from the previous generation. It is capable of accelerating the BMW 3 Series from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.8 seconds. Consumption was reduced to 4.1 liters on the highway and 5 liters in the city. At the same time, the maximum speed is all the same 225 km / h.
Further up the hierarchy is a 190-horsepower engine, similar in volume, but with the highest power. With it, the BMW 320d 2015 develops 100 kilometers per hour in 7.2 seconds. Fuel consumption increases by 0.3 liters in any mode, compared to the younger brother. An additional 27 horses add only 5 km / h to the top speed. Both engines are equipped with both automatic and mechanics, but only a 190-horsepower engine can get all-wheel drive.
Further, there are fundamentally different power units. They already have 3 liters, 6 cylinders arranged in a V-shape, of course, are only available in the xDrive package. The first of them produces 258 horsepower and 560 Nm. Acceleration time to hundreds does not exceed 5.6 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited.The consumption of such a diesel engine will be about 5 and 6 liters on the highway and in the city, respectively.
The oldest among diesel engines is the same V6, but developing 313 horses and 640 Nm. Such a complete set will accelerate to a hundred in 4.8 seconds, while, for a hundred kilometers, it will burn 5.5 liters on the highway and 6.5 in the city. Here, too, only four-wheel drive is available, by the way, mechanics cannot be installed on it.
Prices and configurations of the sedan BMW 340i 2016
This year, the BMW 340i 2015 has almost no competitors. The model itself, at first glance, has not changed, but the company's marketers expect that the replenishment of the engine line will breathe new life into the car's sales volumes. In all likelihood, he is right. Now a three-ruble note can be chosen for every taste, from everyday budget three-cylinder mechanics to top-end cars, whose top speed is electronically limited. At the same time, the volumes of the motors remained within reasonable limits, as well as the costs.
So, the initial configuration of the BMW 318i on the mechanics will cost the new owner 1,560,000 rubles (€ 21,500). There will be an uphill start assist system, air conditioning, light and rain sensors, an immobilizer, in general, a standard set. There are a lot of options, there is a leather interior, a lighting control system, parking sensors, a Hi-Fi audio system, alloy wheels from 17 to 19 inches to choose from, navigation, heated seats and a steering wheel. The total cost of the options is more than a million rubles.
The highest grade of the 2015 BMW 340i xDrive starts at 2 million 720 thousand rubles (37,500 €). Oddly enough, the hardware is the same as in the base, but 18-inch wheels are installed by default. All other equipment is also available as options. Active cruise, perimeter cameras and a keyless entry system are added to the list.
