So, first there was Chrysler Sebring. Then the company decided that the comfortable sedan should be transformed into a fairly large crossover, with four-wheel drive and a powerful engine. In general, to become a typical American Dodge. And so Jornie appeared. But time passed, and in Krasler they realized that their creation did not suit the overseas consumer at all. Then they turned to Fiat and agreed that Fiat would sell Fremont on the territory of the Old World, but only with front-wheel drive, so as not to create strong competition for Jornie.

At the moment, a crossover or minivan, you will not immediately understand, is not for sale in Russia, unlike its American counterpart. This is probably not as profitable as the companies thought. In addition, the design is far from modern, so Dodge closed the shop, but oh well.

Design Fiat Fremont 2013

The 2013 Fiat Freemont was stylized a little across Europe, the changes touched the radiator grille (well, they couldn't leave it from Dodge), and that was the end of it. So, here are quite large rectangular headlights, oddly enough, not lensed, a small bump in the center and a lower edge around the entire perimeter, which is not painted in body color. In the center there is a modest radiator grill, the company's label and further a powerful, embossed hood.

In profile, this is a typical American, and there is no way to hide it. First of all, these are the wheel arches, which stick out, as if they were cut down with a cleaver. Huge discs, sloping roof and angular shapes are typical Dodge. Hence, one might think that this is not Jornie, but Caliber, although the latter is much more than a co-platform. The silhouette of the back is also very similar from here.

What shakes the stern, that Fiat completely repeats its overseas counterpart. Small tailpipe, practical black bumper, austere style, nothing more. Only huge taillights, only a large rear window. On this, perhaps, you can finish with the exterior.

Fiat Freemont dimensions:

  • Height - 1745 mm;
  • Wheelbase - 2890 mm;
  • Front track width - 1571 mm;
  • Rear track width - 1582 mm;
  • Wheel size - 225/65 / R17;
  • Trunk volume min / max, l - 1000/1915;
  • Fuel tank volume, l - 77;
  • Curb weight, kg - 1949;
  • Full weight, kg - 2500.

Interior Fiat Freemont 2013

Inside, too, everything is almost identical, and there is nothing wrong with that. Perhaps the salon is the best thing that Fiat got from Dodge. There are high-quality materials, a huge number of engineering solutions, most of which can be safely called successful. Firstly, in the Long configuration, three rows of seats and three-zone climate control are installed - one hone for each row.

Secondly, there are more than 20 small niches in the cabin for all sorts of small things. Such a car was created for long journeys by large companies, but here it is necessary to arrange all the luggage, and it is far from always convenient to climb into the trunk after it. Special attention should be paid to the hidden box in the front passenger seat, the cushion of which leans forward.

We will not describe in detail the configuration and prices of Fiat Fremont, because it is simply not for sale anymore. But it should be noted that the Lounge will have a completely leather interior, as well as three rows of seats, as mentioned above. The driver's seat has a huge number of electrical adjustments that can adjust the seat to any shape and requirements. There will also be heating and ventilation. By the way, the climate control is three-zone, one zone for each row of seats.

In the maximum configuration, the touch screen has a diagonal of 8.4 inches, while in the base only 4.3 inches. LED lights are integrated into the ceiling above each row of seats, and a folding monitor is installed above the driver, which can show not only from the built-in multimedia, but also from a DVD-player, which is integrated right there.

As for the second row of seats, there are also many interesting engineering solutions that are not just "tricks", they are really useful. So, for example, the rear doors open 90 degrees, which provides easy access to the third row, more on that later. The second row of Fiat Fremont seats is aimed primarily at children. A special mechanism for raising the cushion of the outermost seats, which raises the seat by 10 centimeters, is screaming about this at full throat. At the feet of the passengers of the second row there is also a niche for large enough things. The rear seats also fold down and slide forward, providing free access to the third row. In addition, it allows you to significantly increase the volume of the already roomy trunk.

As for the trunk, in the normal position of all seats, it holds 1000 liters in a five-seater and 350 liters in a seven-seater version. If we add up all the seats, we get 1915 liters, which can be stuffed with a lot of cargo.

Specifications minivan Fiat Freemont

As for the technical characteristics, it looks a little different from the American counterpart. It has already been said that in order to avoid competition for Dodge, the company decided to produce only front-wheel drive modifications, only a 6-speed automatic was installed here.

So, as far as the engine is concerned, here it is an in-line petrol four, developing 170 horses at 2.4 liters of displacement. The torque of such a power unit is about 220 Nm. This is enough for the minivan to accelerate to a hundred in 13.3 seconds, and the maximum speed would be 190 km / h. That's not all. Such an engine demonstrates a rather low appetite: there are about 14 liters in the city, but on the highway there are no more than 7.5 liters of gasoline.

The second gasoline engine offered on the European market is the V6, with a displacement of 3.6 liters. It develops 284 horsepower and 352 Nm of torque. But the consumption of such an engine is not as small as we would like. The city will need at least 15 liters, on the highway at least 11 liters. Yes, acceleration to hundreds is only 8.3 seconds, top speed is 206 km / h, but this equipment is designed for wealthy people.

The rest of the engines are all diesel and have a volume of 2 liters. They are built on the same block, they just have different degrees of forcing. The first develops 140 horses, while consuming about 8 liters of diesel fuel in the city, no more than 5.5 on the highway. The second one develops 170 horses, but his appetite has remained the same, according to the manufacturer.

Conclusion on the new Fiat Freemont

Fiat Fremont is, rather, the company's desire to simply produce something, no matter what. Therefore, the Italians contacted Dodge. As for the prospects, it would be logical to assume that such an undertaking simply does not have them.
