The Toyota Avalon is a flagship full-size sedan featuring stylish design, rich equipment and a high level of comfort. The model was first presented back in 1994 in Georgetown (USA). The car was designed on the basis of the Camry model, but was distinguished by a richer level of equipment and more powerful power units.
The fourth generation of the sedan was presented to the public in 2012 at the New York Auto Show. The main feature of the novelty was a completely new design, developed from scratch, as well as several new equipment options.
At the end of 2015, in Chicago, the Japanese presented a restyled version of the 2016 Toyota Avalon, which received a noticeable visual update, a slightly modified interior, and a wider list of available optional equipment. But first things first.
Exterior Toyota Avalon 2016
The pre-styled Toyota Avalon had an extravagant, austere and, in a sense, a classic exterior. When creating a novelty, the designers and designers decided to move in a slightly different direction, focusing on the sporty style, from which the car's appearance only benefits.
The new Avalon is undoubtedly much brighter and more interesting than its predecessor.
The front of the car received updated LED headlight optics, which was complemented by original stripes of navigation lights, a huge trapezoidal air intake, aerodynamic body kit and extravagant fog lights.
Special attention should be paid to the complex line of the hood, which gives the "muzzle" aggression and sportiness. The profile of the car looks no less bright and dynamic, which is achieved by large doors, massive side-view mirrors, complemented by turn signals, elegant wheel arches and stylish rims (R17 and R18).
The side mirrors have chrome edging, which favorably emphasizes the status of the car and its owner. The rear of the 2016 Toyota Avalon sports a massive rear bumper, an elegant tailgate with a small spoiler, stylish exhaust pipes and original marker lights with LEDs.

The Japanese decided not to reinvent the wheel and left the interior practically unchanged, while expanding the list of additional equipment. The dashboard has a sophisticated architecture, the center console features chromed metal trims that continue on to the dashboard, door pockets and handles, and the steering wheel.
The instrument panel is represented by two deep wells and an on-board computer display, the three-spoke multi steering wheel has a comfortable grip and high-quality finish. The center panel houses a 7-inch color touchscreen display and a stylish interior climate control unit.
The quality of the interior is beyond praise - high-quality plastic, soft to the touch, genuine leather, elements of brushed metal and wood. The fit of the details does not raise questions even among the most severe critics - everything is strict, rich and stylish.
Comfortable front seats are electrically adjustable, heated and cooled, the rear seats are also heated and can easily accommodate three adult passengers, but it is worth noting that in such a car in the back seat it is better to move together. The legroom for the front and rear passengers is more than enough - 1070 mm for the front passengers and 995 mm for the back row passengers.
The trunk volume is relatively small at 410 liters - nevertheless, it is enough to accommodate the luggage of 4 passengers.
Representatives of the auto concern emphasize that the updated Toyota Avalon received better materials for finishing, corresponding to cars of a higher price category, which no doubt adds to its points.
Specifications Toyota Avalon 2016
Like its predecessor, the novelty is presented exclusively in front-wheel drive design. The suspension is also unchanged and features classic MacPherson struts at the front and rear. However, it was not without changes - for example, Toyota designers have significantly redesigned the chassis, thanks to which users have the opportunity to choose one of two options for its operation.
The first one is sporty, it allows you to squeeze the maximum out of the car.
The second is comfortable, after activation of which the suspension becomes as comfortable and soft as possible and will allow you to move comfortably even on broken Russian roads.
The steering is an electric booster, and the braking system is ventilated disc brakes with a diameter of 295 mm at the front and 280 mm at the rear.
The range of power units of the machine is represented by two engines:
- The first is a 3.5-liter petrol engine developing 268 hp. Such a motor is aggregated with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which provides acceleration from 0 to 100 in less than 7 seconds. Fuel consumption will be in the order of 11.3 l / 100 km in the combined cycle.
- The second is a hybrid 2.5-liter 154-horsepower engine, equipped with a similar transmission and consuming just over 7 liters for every 100 km.
Moreover, an even more economical 140-horsepower modification is being prepared, the fuel consumption of which in the combined cycle will not exceed 6 l / 100 km.
The installed electric motor allows you to cover 1.6 km exclusively on electric traction. Acceleration from 0 to 100 is only slightly inferior to a gasoline engine and is 8 seconds.
Despite the considerable weight, the car has excellent dynamic and technical characteristics, and also provides the maximum level of comfort, regardless of the quality and type of road surface under the wheels of the sedan.

Toyota has always taken a high degree of responsibility towards the safety level of its own vehicles, and the updated Avalon is no exception.
The list of passive and active safety systems is represented by the following equipment:
- Ten airbags that are already available in the basic version;
- Adaptive proprietary road lighting system - i-AFS;
- Sensors for monitoring "dead" zones of the vehicle with a warning system;
- The innovative assistant for reversing out of the parking lot;
- Rearview camera with adaptive markings;
- Parking sensors in both the front and rear of the vehicle;
- Improved ABS system with pre-installed EBD system;
- Power braking system in an emergency;
- VSC + system, which is responsible for the directional stability of the machine and allows you to manually disable the stabilization system;
- Automatic switching system between high and low beam;
- Three-point belts, as well as the presence of ISOFIX child anchorages.
Despite its business focus, the Toyota Avalon can easily fulfill the role of a family car, which is facilitated by a high level of safety, a spacious interior and a spacious luggage compartment.

The restyled version of the 2016 Toyota Avalon is offered in five versions: XLE, XLE Plus, XLE Premium, as well as Limited and Touring, where the latter is equipped with a sporty tuned suspension, while the first four trim levels have softer and more comfortable suspension.
